OJB — EUREKA!!

Saturday, January 24th, 2004

Finally. It works. It’s like landing on the moon:

D:\tony\dev\ymas>run
A SimpleClient was added, I think!

Checking the MySQL table:

mysql> select count(*) from simpleclient;
+———-+
| count(*) |
+———-+
| 1 |
+———-+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

Woohoo! I learned about how MySQL sucks because it doesn’t support sequences, and OJB doesn’t like playing with MySQL when you have sequences. Perhaps it’s time to learn PostgreSQL.

But it works!! :) It was a ton of effort, but I’ve just lowered the bar on a ton of stuff I’ve been planning on doing.

Weather.com — Now with 50% more annoying!

Friday, January 23rd, 2004

Weather.com is running full-motion-video ads in a window that automatically play with sound, which means that I’m not going to visit the site anymore. This is a good example of how to lose playing the Internet game.

Weblogging Manifesto

Wednesday, January 21st, 2004

1. MT sucks as a frontend. It rules as a backend, until some comment spammer expoits you and you’re left trying to delete 100 comments. There’s no way of mass-deleting comments.

2. Spammers: I will hunt you down and beat you with a tire iron.

That is all, I just needed to vent. Comments are *really* disabled now. BRING IT ON!!

Comments Disabled

Monday, January 19th, 2004

Until further notice, comments are disabled because of automated spambots.

Adobe is Evil, Don’t use Photoshop CS

Thursday, January 8th, 2004

Apparently the latest version of Photoshop, entitled “Photoshop CS” (Actually version 8), analyzes what you’re opening, and if it looks like US or Euro currency, refuses to open the file!

This is a terrible thing for Adobe to do customers, especially since often, you need currency in an advertisement or other graphic design. The fact that Adobe isn’t trusting their customers to do “legal” things really pisses me off.

It’s like refusing to copy a key for somebody because it might not be their key, and could be used for evil purposes. I understand the ramifications of wanting to combat counterfeiting, but this is absolutely ridiculous. I guess we can toss out a few more personal liberties. What are they worth these days, anyway?

Earthviewer - Now with more Mars!

Monday, January 5th, 2004

Whoa! I saw some video of the Mars missions, and there was a video from Keyhole, maker of Earthviewer. Now, I go to the Keyhole site, and they now have Mars! Time to update Earthviewer!
